Pre-Engineered Building Design & Analysis Software

mkaPEB is pre-engineered building (PEB) design and analysis software for structural engineers and PEB fabricators that sizes portal frames, auto-generates wind and seismic loads, and outputs GA drawings and a fabrication-ready BOM — all in one workflow, from first concept to cutting list. It is the PEB platform RAM CADDSYS distributes globally across India, the GCC, South-East Asia, Africa, and beyond, compliant with IS 800, AISC, and Eurocode.

What is a pre-engineered building?

A pre-engineered building (PEB) is a steel structure whose primary framing — rigid portal frames, built-up tapered columns, tapered rafters, and cold-formed purlins — is engineered, analysed, and fabricated as a single system before erection. Instead of detailing a custom truss or a prismatic-section frame for each project, the designer picks spans, eave heights, roof pitch, bay spacing, and wind exposure, and the software sizes every member, generates GA drawings, and outputs a bill of materials ready for the shop.

The result: industrial sheds, warehouses, aircraft hangars, cold-storage facilities, and process plants that are lighter, faster to erect, and cheaper per square metre than conventional steel construction — which is why PEB design dominates single-storey industrial projects worldwide. In North America the same structure is known as a pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) — see our metal building design software page for the US vocabulary.

What the software does

Core PEB structure design capabilities.

Everything a PEB fabricator or consultant needs to move from enquiry to fabrication drawings — without bouncing between three disconnected tools.

Parametric frame design

Input span, eave, pitch, and bay spacing. mkaPEB generates tapered columns, rafters, and haunches sized to code — no manual section trial-and-error.

Auto load generation

Wind, seismic, dead, and live loads generated automatically per IS 875, IS 1893, ASCE 7, or EN 1991. Load combinations built to the code you select.

Connection design

Base plates, eave haunches, ridge splices, and mezzanine connections designed with bolt groups, welds, and stiffeners — all drawn and checked.

GA + part drawings

General arrangement drawings, anchor-bolt layouts, and individual part drawings export straight from the model with dimensions and weld call-outs.

BOM & cutting lists

Every plate, bolt, and section rolls up into a fabrication-ready BOM and cutting list — reducing re-work and handoff errors to the shop floor.

Steel weight optimisation

The optimisation engine iterates on member sizing to minimise steel tonnage while holding code checks — often saving 5-15% on a single project.

Codes & standards

Design codes supported out of the box.

Switch the governing code and the entire load generation, combination set, and section checking updates — so one design team can serve India, the GCC, East Africa, and beyond.

Anatomy of a pre-engineered building.

Every PEB is a kit of four component families: rigid portal frames resisting lateral loads, purlins spanning the rafters, cross-bracing stabilising the bay, and base plates anchoring it all to the foundation. Our software designs and detail-drafts each one.

End-to-end PEB workflow

From enquiry to fabrication in one pipeline.

Four stages, one model, zero re-keying between tools.

  1. STEP 01

    Geometry

Define span, eave, pitch, bay spacing, mezzanines, and crane loads. mkaPEB generates the full 3D frame model in seconds.

  2. STEP 02

    Analysis

Auto load generation (wind, seismic, dead, live), combinations per code, and 1st-order elastic analysis. Deeper seismic or dynamic studies link out to STRAP.

  3. STEP 03

    Detailing

Generate GA drawings, anchor-bolt plans, and part drawings with dimensions and weld callouts. Need full shop drawings? Round-trip to COMOSYS.

  4. STEP 04

    Fabrication

Export BOM, cutting lists, and NC data to the shop. Your fabricator starts cutting the moment design sign-off lands — no manual drafting handover.

PEB design, answered.

Common questions we hear from engineers evaluating PEB workflows. Still unanswered? Talk to a specialist.

A pre-engineered building is a single-storey steel structure whose framing — portal frames, tapered columns, rafters, and cold-formed purlins — is engineered, analysed, and fabricated as one integrated system before site erection. PEBs are standard for warehouses, industrial sheds, factories, cold-storage, and aircraft hangars because they are lighter, faster to erect, and cheaper per square metre than conventional steel construction.
