Vertex BD Is The Most Used Software For Steel Framing (LGSF)

ONE-STOP SOLUTION for cold-formed steel structures

MODELLING →DETAILING →MANUFACTURING

Vertex BD is the leading cold-formed steel framing software / light gauge steel framing software for prefab, modular, residential, and commercial construction. Architects, drafters, engineers, and construction professionals use Vertex BD to streamline their entire building process, from detailing to manufacturing.

The Vertex BD BIM software is specifically designed for:

  • Commercial and residential cold-formed steel frames and trusses; prefabricated wall, floor, ceiling, and roof panels; bathroom pods and modular construction

  • Automating the process of generating wall, floor, ceiling, and roof panel fabrication drawings, structural layouts, cut lists, material reports, and manufacturing data

What is Vertex BD?

  • Increase Speed and Accuracy Onsite

Vertex BD technology automates the process of creating panel fabrication drawings in seconds, thanks to the software’s defined framing rules. This allows you to plan ahead and build more components offsite, increasing efficiency and keeping costs down during construction.

Vertex BD automates the process of generating wall, floor, ceiling, and roof panel fabrication drawings, structural layouts, cut lists, material reports, and manufacturing data all from one BIM model.

  • Adapt Easily to Any Project

Vertex BD is the most customizable framing software on the market, featuring material libraries, framing details, and rules — all of which can be modified to work with each unique project.

The software can utilize any manufacturer’s products; not restricted to specific material manufacturers

Custom and proprietary material shapes can be added to the system to further modify any building project

  • Eliminate Manufacturing Errors

Vertex BD streamlines both the detailing and construction processes.

The Vertex BD software creates material reports and automatically exports data directly to the manufacturing equipment. This skips the step of manual input, minimizing errors and saving production time.

Architectural 2D plans and 3D models can be imported into Vertex BD from virtually any architectural software, streamlining the framing process and saving detailing time.

How Does It Work?

This video covers the process of generating cold-formed steel framing, panel fabrication drawings, cutting lists, and a material report, as well as producing steel profiles with a roll-forming machine and an assembly of a wall panel.

THE END RESULT? MORE PROJECTS, LESS TIME

Vertex BD allows you to complete tasks effectively, accurately, quickly, and on budget, giving you more bandwidth to take on bigger, more complex projects.

Customer's Feedback

Vertex allows us to double-check every single wall or truss, as if you actually were on the site looking at the house. It stops us from making mistakes and having things sent to the site incorrectly.

It is crucial for us to have a tool which can quickly create a draft 3D model with fairly good details to communicate with clients in the early phase of a potential project. With Vertex BD it can be done easily.

It was really a fun experience using S-FOUNDATION. It is an easy-to-use software especially with an attractive interface (GUI). I have been teaching soil mechanics, geotechnical engineering & foundation engineering courses for the past 17 years in Malaysia with experience in PLAXIS.

  • commercial builders
  • manufactured home builders
  • modular home builders
  • component manufacturers
  • architecture firms
  • engineering firms
  • material suppliers
  • plan service providers
  • educational institutions

CAD refers to the old-fashioned software applications used for creating 2D line drawings, and eventually 3D models, that contain only simple geometry.

Vertex BD is a 2D and 3D design system that enables a designer to build a structure in virtual space using objects that contain information about themselves. For example, when you draw a wall in Vertex BD, the wall object has information about what it should look like in 2D and 3D, as well as, the materials used to build that wall, the framing details to be used when generating the production drawings of that wall, and what connections that wall has to other walls, floors, roofs, etc.

Once the building has been created in the software, all this information is used to generate architectural layouts, elevation and section drawings, structural layouts, production drawings, material reports, manufacturing data, and rendered images, all from one source. This eliminates the task of creating all of those drawings and reports separately, and ensures they are all consistent with each other.

Yes. Vertex BD has utilized BIM technology long before the term BIM was commonly recognized in the industry. BIM stands for Building Information Modeling, which basically means that the model created in the software contains information about itself. See “How is Vertex BD different than CAD?” to read about how Vertex BD takes advantage of BIM technology.

In recent years, many people have misunderstood the term BIM to mean a file format compatible with Autodesk Revit. BIM is a generic term used to describe a type of software, not any one specific application.

Vertex BD is a complete architectural and framing BIM software package. It is designed to produce plans up to 2X faster and eliminate mistakes at the construction site.

There is no need to redraw the model in different software applications. Once the building has been created in the software, it is used to generate architectural layouts, elevation and section drawings, structural layouts, production drawings, material reports, manufacturing data, and rendered images, all from one source.

The framing generator saves an enormous amount of time by automatically generating productions drawings, complete with dimensions, piece labels, cut lists, and more. Unlike some other framing systems, our framing rules, details, and materials are all customizable, and our final production drawings are completely editable.

Vertex BD is also highly customizable – libraries of walls, floors, roofs, ceilings, doors, windows, trims, details, and more, can all be modified to fit the way you build.

Yes. We provide on-site training, as well as, training at our local offices. We can also provide hands-on online training sessions. Training is always conducted by one of our expert software support engineers, and is private for each customer.
